The cost of a hair transplant surgery in the UK varies depending on a couple of factors:

The amount of hair loss

The area(s) that it is located in

The NHS website states that the cost varies from £1,000 to £30,000 which is quite a large bracket that most (if not all uk clinics) fall in. Typically most clinics will start from around £3,000.

OUR HAIR TRANSPLANT COSTS

Our pricing starts from £2,500 for minor cases and can go up to £6,000 for major cases.

The pricing range that we offer is quite a broad one and only covers the cost of 1 procedure, which is why we are going to go a bit further in explaining the costs of various factors that affect the cost of a hair transplant.

We are not the cheapest nor the most expensive; however, we believe we are very competitively and fairly priced given that we operate on a surgeon-led approach and NOT a technician lead approach as some cheaper providers are and thus can get the cost lower. We believe we have achieved the correct balance of value for money.

HOW DO WE CALCULATE THE COST OF A HAIR TRANSPLANT

To calculate the cost of a hair transplant, we first look at the area of hair loss along with the donor area of the head. This will determine if the patient is a good candidate for a hair transplant or not. We then classify the area of hair loss via the Norwood scale for men and the Ludwig scale for women. This will then give us an idea of the number of grafts that are needed in order to achieve a natural-looking hair transplant so that the patient is happy with the results. It will also give us an idea of the amount of work involved and be able to give a fairly accurate price.

The best way to get an accurate price for any type of hair transplant procedure is to have a free one-on-one consultation with one of our expert consultants at Harley Street Hair Transplants, London.

COST OF A FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT

The follicular unit extraction (or FUE) procedure is the most common one as it’s the latest and best hair transplant procedure where individual hairs (or hair follicles) are taken from the donor area and transplanted to the areas of hair loss. The majority of our procedures are executed via this method, and the average cost is around £4,000 currently.

COST OF A BEARD HAIR TRANSPLANT

We tend to use the same procedure for beard transplants as hair transplants. Typically the cost of a beard transplant is between £3,500 and £5,000, again depending on the hair that needs to be transplanted.

COST OF AN EYEBROW TRANSPLANT

Just like hair and beard transplants, we use the FUE procedure for eyebrow transplants. These tend to cost around £3,500 as they are one of the focal points of a person’s face, and thus we have to take more time to get the detail and design correct as the “devil is in the details,” as they say.

HOW MUCH DO 500 GRAFTS COST?

This is typically one of the lowest graft numbers and is usually for eyebrow hair transplants. The cost is usually around £2,500 – £3,000 depending on the amount of work involved.

HOW MUCH DOES A 1,000-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

We are on eyebrow and beard territory with these graft numbers, as well as some small hairline work. Typically the cost revolves around £3,00.

HOW MUCH DOES A 1,500-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

Moving onto denser beard hair transplants as well as fuller hairlines, we charge you around £3,500.

HOW MUCH DOES A 2,000-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

This is pretty much an average amount of grafts that the majority of our patients require. It is usually receding hairline work or crown work. The cost for this procedure lies around £4,000.

HOW MUCH DOES A 2,500-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

Moving onto larger areas of hair loss now, 2,500 grafts is where either multiple areas get covered or one larger area that requires coverage and some density. The cost lies between £4,000 – £4,500.

HOW MUCH DOES A 3,000-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

Three thousand grafts are the maximum number of grafts that we recommend and perform in one procedure. This is to protect the donor hair from over-harvesting and to aid in healing and recovery time. The cost for this lies between £5,000 – £6,000.

HOW MUCH DOES A 4,000-GRAFT HAIR TRANSPLANT COST?

Now we are entering the 2 stage procedure territory regarding hair transplants; typically, a 4,000 graft procedure which refers to extensive hair loss. We would split a 4,000 graft procedure into 2 stages in order to achieve the best possible result keeping the patient’s health in mind and top priority when it comes to healing of their donor area. The price would be around £8,000.

FINANCE OPTIONS

We are currently in the process of getting a new finance provider on board. We will update this section as soon as we have more details about finance options for hair transplants.

TRUE COST VS VALUE OF HAIR TRANSPLANTS

Hair transplant costs are typically the highest in the hair loss/hair restoration market. The main reason for this is the time, skill, and responsibility of care that goes with it when compared to other treatments that cost less. It is also one of the most handful and clinically proven treatments that work for hair growth.

We understand very well that losing your hair can have a devastating psychological impact on self-confidence and image/identity, irrespective of the amount of hair loss experienced. There are, of course, other treatments to solve this, such as wearing a wig/toupe or going for a hair replacement system (in essence, a glued wig with real hair). These solutions have one thing in common: they are NOT permanent as they require ongoing maintenance. In fact, when looking at the true cost of a hair transplant vs. wigs/toupes/hair replacement systems, a hair transplant should be cheaper throughout a person’s lifetime. It just seems more expensive because of the larger initial lump sum cost compared with the other solutions.

  1. The average cost of a hair transplant with us: is around £4,000.
  2. Hair replacement system. Cost: between £300 – £550 (Call it £400 on average).

Ongoing cost: £400. Replacement period: once every 6 months roughly.

That means that by your 10th hair replacement system (after roughly 5 years), you have paid as much as the average cost of a hair transplant with us; however, you will have continued ongoing costs.

Also, you will not have that anxiety/fear in the back of your mind that “what if my hair system falls off” as with a hair transplant, your own hair follicles are implanted into your scalp, giving that boost in self-confidence and freedom from the worry and anxiety of hair loss.
